INTRODUCTION

Since its inception in 1983, the Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) was founded by the Methodist Council of Education. Our campus is strategically established in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

MCKL’s guiding philosophy is focused on delivering excellent and quality education, which ultimately serves its purposes as an institution for society. As educators, we strive for a caring and nurturing environment through transformative learning and teaching practices, along with upskilling extra-curricular activities. MCKL continues to deliver and build knowledge, skills, and attitude to enhance the competency of each individual thus leading to job security in the modern workforce.

Over the years MCKL has been highly recognised for its track record and gold standard achievements of its pre-university and undergraduate programmes, while also being a platinum approved learning partner of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

In 2022, MCKL launched its first branch campus – MCKL College (Penang, Pykett campus), to provide greater higher education opportunities and alternative pathways for secondary school leavers and adult learners in the northern region in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0).

PROGRAMMES

Pre U / A Levels / Foundation

Cambridge A Level (CAL)
Level of Study : A Levels
Course Duration : 1.5 years

The Cambridge Assessment International Education A Level is MCKL’s most prominent pre-university programme. This serves as an entry qualification to a wide range of degree programmes in universities locally and internationally.

MCKL’s curriculum sets a global standard for education, with programmes that stretch, challenge, and inspire our students. They will be equipped with knowledge and key competencies and skills, ready to embark on their university journey.

Cambridge A Level (CAL) *German Pathway Available
Level of Study : A Levels
Course Duration : 1.5 years

MCKL provides students with a direct pathway to further their studies in Germany. While students are studying the A Level in MCKL, they will also be attending German language lessons to fulfill the language requirement to study in Germany.

This pathway will grant students access to early exposure in German language without the need for a tutor. Upon completion of this programme, German Educare will assist students in qualification check, university applications and placements, advance German language lessons, visa applications and more.

Australian Matriculation
Level of Study : Pre – University
Course Duration : 1 Year or 1.5 Years

The Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) is an internationally recognised pre-university programme, well-structured with a balanced emphasis on coursework and external examinations. Academic scores are based on continuous school assessments and external examinations held in November. Upon completion of this programme, successful students will be awarded the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and gain entries into top universities of their choice both locally and abroad.

Business, Marketing, Financial Technology

Diploma in Digital Business
Level of Study : Diploma
Course Duration : 2.5 Years

Change has become part and parcel of the way contemporary day-to-day operations have been taking place for most businesses. The rapid evolution of business management processes, as well as the digitisation of much of the business world, sees much disruption in more traditional marketplaces. With the advancement of modern technology, many industries have swiftly adopted online operations as the virtual brick-and-mortar of businesses.

This programme will cater to students who are deeply interested in the technology side and the digitisation of business operations, including Internet Technology and web-based applications. This programme will provide an understanding of the context, nature, role and significance of digital business activities in a dynamic business world.

Upon completion of this programme, students will gain exposure to theoretical and practical issues of conducting business over the Internet and the web. Students can also join the workforce, become digital business entrepreneurs or further their studies at our partner universities in a related field of specialisation.

Diploma in Digital Marketing

Digital marketing or famously known as online marketing, is increasing in popularity and demand. The profession has evolved over the years, making it one of the most sought-after forms of advertising in today’s fast-changing world. With the Internet easily accessible via tablets and mobile phones with a single touch, this has spurred tremendous growth with plenty of opportunities.

The programme will equip students with fundamental skills in relation to digital advertising practices and future-oriented skills, such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), social media content marketing and digital retailing. These modules offered will develop an in-depth understanding of the practice with a
strong focus on modern marketing demands and project management to generate essential critical thinking skills.

Upon completion of this programme, students will possess sound theoretical and applicable knowledge of digital marketing to enable them to advance their career prospects in the field. This programme is designed to equip students with broad-based knowledge and future-oriented skills, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity. These Tech Disruptive Skills are highly sought after by the industry.

Early Childhood Education

Diploma in Early Childhood Education
Level of Study : Diploma
Course Duration : 2.5 Years (Full Time)

This programme will fully equip students with the theoretical knowledge, teaching pedagogies, practical skills and holistic understanding of young children’s development, learning needs and growth. The programme covers various ECE specialities such as: child development, creativity through music, movement, art and drama, teaching mathematics and sciences to young children, language and literacy, health, safety and nutrition, infant and toddler care and teaching social studies to young children.

Upon completion of this programme, MCKL graduates will be offered other pathways to earn a globally recognised degree either in Ireland or U.K. with just an additional one of year study abroad to support their career goals. Graduates may also seek employment in the ECE field as a qualified practitioner.

Micro-Credentials

Micro-Credentials in Programming With Python
Level of Study : Short Courses
Course Duration : 6 weeks

The Micro-credentials in Programming with Python is a certification of a single or smaller set of courses from MCKL’s full fledge Diploma in Computer Science (Data Science Focused) or Diploma in Information Technology (Internet of Things Focused).

Micro-credentials offer a more flexible, shorter, modular, and affordable alternative to quality higher education, which is carefully designed to help professionals reskill or upskill in their current professional field or personal interests.

Upon successfully completing this programme, candidates will be able to apply the fundamentals of Python syntax and semantics in the control flow statements, create programmes by utilizing the functions and data structures in Python and solve real-life problems using programming concepts in Python.

Micro-Credentials in Fundamentals of Innovation And Entrepreneurship
Level of Study : Short Courses
Course Duration : 6 weeks

The Micro-credentials in Fundamentals of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a certification of a single or smaller set of courses from MCKL’s full fledge Diploma in Digital Business, Diploma in Digital Marketing, and Diploma in Financial Technology (FinTech).

Upon successfully completing this programme, candidates will be able to apply the fundamentals.

Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching & Learning

As part of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) Level 4 for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching and Learning (CICTL) is designed to enable teachers to enhance and improve their quality of teaching, integrate new approaches in teaching and focus on effective and reflective teaching practices to promote active learning.

The Cambridge Certificate is facilitated by experienced education & faculty members from various disciplines to help candidates improve their effectiveness as educators.

Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching & Learning

The Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching and Learning (CIDTL) is designed to develop a teacher’s ability via key education theories, concepts and reflective practice to promote active learning in students and is taught by experienced educators & faculty members from various disciplines.

The Cambridge Diploma is benchmarked to the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) Level 5 for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

FA-SA: Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment

In FA-SA: Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment, participants will explore the key areas of assessments in teaching and learning, understand the differences between formative and summative assessments and its purposes, learn about the different assessment methods and engage with the concept of Assessment for Learning (AfL).

Teaching an Effective Active Learning Class equips educators with the most essential and innovative pedagogical strategies that will actively engage their 21st-century learners, making the teaching and learning experience more relevant, creative, and motivating.

The pedagogical strategies covered in this course are very practical and teacher-friendly; and open many opportunities for their learners to problem solve, think critically, communicate effectively, and collaborate efficiently with their peers.

Thriving with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the Classroom
Level of Study : Short Courses
Course Duration : 8 hours

Thriving with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the classroom is aimed at informing and raising awareness on the characteristics of learners with special needs, specifically learners within the autism spectrum disorder and with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); and how they may present unique instructional challenges in inclusive classrooms.

Practical and teacher-friendly educational strategies in helping these learners achieve optimal success as well as solutions in managing common behavioural issues will also be covered.

Effective Lesson Design and Planning

Course Duration : 4 hours

Effective Lesson Design and Planning provides the participants with the basic knowledge of lesson planning and the awareness of how it impacts the student’s learning.

It enables the participants to apply the theoretical knowledge practically and develop the ability to plan a lesson coherently.

Embracing Autism: Understanding & Supporting Learners With Autism
Level of Study : Short Courses
Course Duration : 4 hours

Embracing Autism: Understanding & Supporting Learners with Autism is a 2 two-hour module series that is aimed at informing and raising awareness on the characteristics of individuals within the autism spectrum disorder and how they may present unique instructional challenges in educational settings.

Practical and teacher-friendly educational strategies in helping learners within the spectrum achieve optimal success in school will also be covered.

Preparatory Course

Cambridge A Level Preparatory (PREPCAL) Programme
Level of Study : Preparatory Course
Course Duration :7 Teaching Weeks

Cambridge A Level Preparatory (PREPCAL) Programme is made up of seven (7) teaching weeks, targeted exclusively for SPM/IGCSE leavers and aimed to ease the transition to their pre-university studies in MCKL. The programme is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to become a successful pre-university student for the Cambridge A Level Programme in MCKL.

The Cambridge Certificate is facilitated by experienced education & faculty members from various disciplines to help candidates improve their effectiveness as educators.
